TommyLog – Making A Difference – Johnny The Bagger
Posted By tommytrc On Tuesday, April 26th 2011 In TommyLog Tags: Bagger, difference, Grocery store, johnny, Leadership, service, tommytrcToday I had a great training session with my main training buddy Matt from NWTC. In his class he showed the always relevant video called “johnny the Bagger” Johnny is a boy with down syndrome and worked for a grocery store. He wanted to make a difference so he started putting inspirational messages into each bag he helped check out. What an amazing video and well worth the watch. What can we do to make a difference?

Reading an article of a Canadian couple who gave every cent of their $11.2 million dollar lottery jackpot away. They first took care of family and then donated it all to charity. WOW what selfless people and ones that really set the bar for service.
The world has a lot to learn from this amazing couple!

I had to the opportunity to be part of the build for the Extreme makeover – Home Edition build in Neenah, WI and to say it was a humbling experience would be an understatement. This is my raw footage of all the action as it happened. 20,000 volunteers over the course of a week, 200 at a time on the build site alone. What an amazing community building opportunity. The president of Lexington homes, Jeff Marlow worked tirelessly all day drumming up donations to pay off the mortgage for the Arboleda family. They can take the credentials away from me, but they can never take the experience away!

Over the Top GREAT Customer Service @AffinityHealth
Posted By tommytrc On Sunday, February 7th 2010 In TommyLog Tags: affinity, affinity health, apology, business, Customer service, Health, service, sick, sorryThis story comes full circle. Today I received a phone call from the Affinity Health doctor that was responsible for seeing Baby Drew. I heard the 2 words that rarely if ever get said, I’m Sorry. She said I’M SORRY!!! I’m 100%, do not pass go, do not collect $200 BLOWN AWAY with the fact that someone called to apologize. How awesome is that!! When was the last time someone actually said “I’m sorry?” People screw up all the time, but how pleasant is it when someone actually admits it. A prime example of excellent customer service. Affinity Health has a customer for life and this is reason #1.

Bells A Ringing
Posted By tommytrc On Tuesday, December 15th 2009 In TommyLog Tags: Christmas, death, giving, Salvation Army, service, tommytrc, twitterTommy gets ready to go ring bells for the Salvation Army. Always makes you feel good to give back to the community. Last night Tommy leaned that a twitter friend lost their 2 yr old son in a drowning accident. Some people questioned the authenticity of the report and got hammered for questioning. Interesting commentary here.

Tommy III goes on his first Cub Scout camp out and Tommytrc talks about his days as a scouter. The Sub Scout and Boy Scout program has had a profound effect on my life. My leaders taught me a great deal. I now can see the influence Tommys scout leaders are having on his life. The circle continues and so does the great Scouting program!
